Groundsmen

The Somerset Cricket Board, in partnership with the SCB Groundsmans Association and IOG, run both Foundation Course Part A & Part B courses, along with bespoke Groundsman Workshops.

The quality of club pitches is becoming a greater influence in the retention of players and the SCB would urge clubs to think about the future management of their cricket square.

Through identifying potential delegates from within your club who could become the groundsmen of the future and by encouraging existing groundsmen without a formal qualification or experience to attend, our courses and workshops represents an excellent opportunity to ensure your club is fully prepared for the new season.

The Foundation level courses offer a practical approach to the preparation and maintenance of a Cricket square and are delivered in an informal and enjoyable environment. In addition the courses provide essential information for all cricket groundsmen, incorporating the most up to date techniques associated with managing a cricket surface.

The Part A course covers the important work that is required during pre-season and in the summer, whilst the Part B covers end of season renovations and essential autumn work.

Our bespoke Workshops offer club groundsmen the opportunity to gain specific skills and knowledge relevant to the maintenance and improvement of thir own club facilities.
