New information and features for 2018

Since the completion of the 2017 programme, the ECB through feedback from clubs and County Boards have conducted a review of things that could be improved or enhanced for the 2018 programme, and as such I can confirm the following bits of information, including some new features for 2018:

Improved club management system – the club management system, Clubspark, has been developed to include:

  • Greater ease for clubs to market themselves to their databases (including a suite of new marketing assets)
  • A ‘meet the activator function’ is being created for parents so that the connection between the club and its parents can be enhanced

Year 2 Participant Kit Offer – there will be a differentiated kit offer for year 2 children, to include stumps and a different shirt

Year 2 Club Equipment Offer – the year 2 equipment for clubs will include:

  •  A voucher system and top up packs to ensure all equipment is available
  •  Parent helper vests so that all volunteers can be clearly identified
  •  An online shop to purchase additional equipment

Activator kit – the provision for Activators has improved, most notably:

  • A new and increased range of clothing
  • Female specific clothing
  • An online shop to purchase additional clothing

Activator support – As well as the kit, activators are also being supported with:

  • A curriculum update, focusing on a greater range of activities
  • Progression/Regression activities to improve provision for different ages and stages
  • More live demonstrations of sessions being delivered for Activators to view in their own time

Financial model – the financial model will remain unchanged from 2017, i.e. £40 cost to participants, with £5 per participant returned to the club

SCB Support / Our School Delivery / ECB Support

As with 2017, SCB will provide regular communication and support to clubs throughout the process of setting up your programmes, to recruiting participants, to the actual running of your programmes. Please don’t hesitate to contact our All Stars Champion

In terms of some specific support to help recruit new children to the game, we are delivering our largest programme of school delivery ever in 2017-2018 with the majority of this focused on delivering to key stage 1 aged children. This includes:

  1. Delivering All Stars Cricket Assemblies and Taster sessions in schools
  2. Using Chance to Shine funding to deliver 'roadshow' sessions in schools
  3. Providing posters and flyers to all registered 'All Stars Cricket Centres'

On top of this, the ECB will be running a national marketing campaign, which will be greater than 2017. Additionally, through your club management system, Clubspark, you can now access a greater range of marketing resources and guidance on how to recruit participants.

Don't wait to set up your programme- Ensure you are ahead of the game!

My biggest plea is for clubs to set up their programmes as soon as possible, and at the latest by 31st January

From 1st February onwards, the intention is that parent sign up will go live and we will also begin in that week to hand out promotional material to all of the schools that we have engaged with. Therefore, if you want your club to benefit from all of the early marketing it is important that your programme has been created by then.

Additionally, by setting up your programme by 31st January, you will be entered in to a prize draw for a visit to your club from Michael Vaughan

Activator Training

This is just an early heads up that all 2018 lead activators will be required to attend an Activator training session. This will include 2017 Activators as the course content will be different. We will communicate more information on the activator training in due course.

Get your facilities ready for All Stars Cricket- £75,000 available through Small Grant Scheme

One final mention is that for 2018 the ECB’s Small Grant Scheme includes a specific opportunity for All Stars centres to apply for funding to help enhance family friendly facilities at your club, so as to ensure you are offering a quality ‘whole family’ experience to your All Stars parents. For Somerset Clubs we have £75,000 available to support clubs with this year. I would urge you to look at the Small Grant Scheme and consider whether an application from your club may help to add value to your All Stars programme.
