Dredge claims August Player of the Month Award

August’s Player of the Month has been awarded to David Dredge of Frome Cricket Club.

The opening batsman had a fantastic month scoring 431 at an average of 86.2 with scores of 158,123, 86 and 64 as well as taking 7 wickets at and average of 12. Dredge's performances have helped Frome Cricket Club win the Somerset division of the WEPL securing promotion to the Bristol Somerset division for 2015.

David , wins an all-inclusive day out for two at The County Ground during the LV County Championship match between Somerset and Middlesex.

Lympsham’s captain Jack Luff is the runner up for August’s award and wins a £15 Somerset County Sports voucher.

Jack who plays his cricket in Division 4 of The Shrubbery Hotel Somerset Cricket League lead his side to the league title and he produced a number of significant performances in August. He hit 154 not out vs Fitzhead, took 6-1 vs Winsor, 55 & 2-29 vs Broadway & Horton and 48 & 4-31 against Cranmore.

In third place and winner of a £10 Somerset County Sports voucher, is Ashbrittle Cricket Club’s Ben Franks.

Ben took 16 wickets in August at 10.81 including taking 5-15 vs North Curry. His wickets helped Ashbrittle secure 2nd place in the Shrubbery Hotel Somerset Cricket League and promotion to the WEPL.

Other significant contributions made in August included, Nathan Barnard of Middlezoy CC with 7-12 and 74, Andy Llewelyn of Uphill Castle scoring 102 and 97, and former Somerset cricketer Keith Parsons of Taunton St Andrews CC who scored 277 runs in the month at an average of 69.25.
