Job Title: Performance Head Coach

Salary: £28,000 – 30,000 per annum dependent on experience and qualifications

Benefits: Mobile phone allowance, travel expenses and government backed pension scheme

Hours: Flexible, 37 hours per week

The Somerset Cricket Board (SCB) wish to appoint a highly motivated and competent Performance Head Coach to be responsible for the player pathway for boys, girls and women.

The successful candidate will join a friendly and highly motivated workforce with a track record of developing talented male and female cricketers. The SCB and Somerset County Cricket Club are intrinsically linked and work together as one to grow and develop the game and the Performance Head Coach will play a vital role in continuing the tradition of ‘growing our own’.

The post holder will need to manage the pathway and deliver on the pathway in such a way that enables players to reach their potential.

The Performance Head Coach will have the benefit of an existing Women and Girls Performance Coach to manage and lead delivery on the female pathway.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • District and County cricket for women, girls and boys under the age of 17
  • Emerging Player programme
  • Coaching on the Somerset County Cricket Club Academy programme
  • Supporting clubs and schools to help develop players and coaches

With support from existing coaches and stakeholders in the pathway the Performance Head Coach will review, design, manage and maintain a coherent and successful player development programme, including the appointment and performance management of key coaching staff (professional and voluntary) for each programme.

The successful candidate will have experience of coaching in development and performance environments as well as working with various partners, managing and developing core programmes and building strong partnerships.  

Candidates must demonstrate both team working skills and the ability to work unsupervised using their own initiative.  Excellent communication and presentation skills and good IT skills will be expected. Applicants must have the ability to live and work in the UK and be able/willing to work regular evenings and weekends.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with energy and enthusiasm together with good administration and organisational skills. Equally you will be an excellent communicator with a passion for the game and working with young people.

A track record of developing players and building excellent working relationships are essential criteria for the successful candidate.
