We run courses for those new to coaching and also more experienced coaches looking to develop.
Developing coaches to facilitate enjoyable and interesting sessions is fundamental to the future of cricket in Somerset.
On this page you can see all the formal courses we run to develop coaches and helpers at clubs and schools. The majority of our courses run between November and April in order to prepare for the following season.
During 2019-2020 the ECB are changing the current Education course pathway.
This will include the introduction of a New Foundation Stage Level 1 course and in the Autumn of 2020 a new Foundation Stage Level 2 course should be ready to go.
Currently the ECB are piloting the new ‘Foundation 1’ course, which will replace the current Coach Support Worker course and this course will be available for County Boards to schedule in early 2020.
We see this as a fantastic development and opportunity, as this bridges the gap greatly between keen parents and volunteers that are willing to help out, to your more traditional managers and coaches. This will be a 2 day course that we hope will be accessible to all prospective coaches.
Our aim is to schedule four of these new Foundation Stage Level 1 courses around the county during February to March 2020.
We will continue to run the current Level 2 courses and there will be two Certificate in Coaching Children courses available at the Centre of Excellence, Taunton and Wellsway Sports Centre, during November to December 2019.
In addition there will be a new Participation Level 3 course available centrally from the ECB, which is aimed at qualifying more Level 3 coaches to benefit clubs.
Further information around each of the new courses will appear as soon as this becomes available in the specific course sections detailed below.
