A two day course ideal for prospective coaches, team managers and volunteers who are looking to take their first step on the coaching pathway.
Foundation Stage One course
There has never been a better time to get involved or to share your love of the game with players of all ages and abilities.
A blend of e-learning and face-to-face modules led by ECB Coach Developers will explore what coaching looks like, the impact you can have as an ECB Foundation I Coach, the skills you can help players to develop and how you can learn from your experiences.
This programme has been designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to coach cricket sessions that are active, purposeful, enjoyable and safe.
An ECB Foundation I Coach will be qualified to lead coaching sessions independently and without supervision.
Candidates should note: An ECB DBS check will be required before the candidate can commence the application process.
The course content will include:
• Role of an ECB Foundation I Coach
• What does coaching look like?
• Coaching fielding, bowling and batting
• Foundation principles – fielding, bowling and batting
• The coaching tools
• Purposeful sessions
• Active sessions
• Safe sessions
• Enjoyable sessions
Who should attend
Anyone aged 17 and over wishing to become qualified to coach cricket, inspire players and make a difference to the game.
• ECB DBS required to begin application
Prior to applying for a place on your chosen Foundation Stage One course, you will be required to complete and submit an ECB DBS Vetting check.
Candidates may currently hold other versions of DBS certificates (Council, FA, RFU, LTA, etc.), however all ECB coaches must hold a copy of an up to date ECB DBS, to access the F1 course.
If you already hold a current ECB DBS Vetting Check, you will be able to book onto the F1 courses.
If you require an ECB DBS Vetting check the process is now online and candidates should follow the instructions below to apply:
Please contact your Club Welfare Officer or provide the information detailed below by email to:
Your Full Name, Date of Birth, Club affiliation & Email Address.
Your application will then be initiated and the ECB will send you an email with a link to your new online DBS application form.
You will then be required to complete and submit the online application form, detailing the evidence that you will present to your verifier.
Once completed please take your documentary evidence to either your Club Welfare Officer or to the contacts detailed above in the SCB office, to have your DBS application signed off.
(If your club already has an approved verifier, then their details will be sent to you on completing your online DBS application).
Alternatively you can arrange to have your form signed off by any approved verifier in Somerset.
Please note that you will have to provide the required evidence with your application form at the time of signing off by the DBS Verifier.
All candidates are required to have a current ECB DBS Vetting check as a pre-requisite to gaining certification.
• Four face-to-face modules lasting three hours each
• Seven bitesize e-learning modules
• Assessment – three observed coaching opportunities during face-to-face modules and an online multiple-choice questionnaire
• Cost £150.00.
Pre-requisites for certification
• Valid safeguarding certificate (eg Online Safeguarding Young Cricketers)
• ECB DBS
• 18 years of age.
