The Somerset Player Pathway

Somerset Cricket Board, working in partnership with Somerset County Cricket Club, has developed a vision and strategy for the development of players across the region. The intention of the Somerset Player Pathway is to provide individuals with the best possible experience whilst ensuring that players are given the best opportunity to develop and challenge themselves across the winter training and summer match play programmes.

Pathway objectives

To provide players with the opportunity to develop & challenge their current level of cricket through match-play and training
To encourage players to develop important personal/character skills by adopting the Somerset values
To continually evolve ensuring that the pathway is player centred and allows player development to be maximised
To identify and develop players capable of winning matches for Somerset and England at a senior level

Somerset County Age Groups

The Somerset County Age Group Programme gives players access to targeted and specific training in a suitable environment to develop and implement their cricket skills.

Individuals will receive appropriate opportunities through training sessions, development days and fixtures with the aim of developing and broadening their game and focusing on a player’s role within the side and how their performance can influence the result of a game.
